Michael Pollan has been become our nation’s healthy diet expert.  In 2006, his New York Times Best Seller, The Ominvore’s Dilemma provided an in-depth look at the industrial food chain.  He made all of us feel like we’ve been eating garbage for the past 50-years because of how our food was produced.  In Food Rules, Pollan keeps it simple and conveys his essential diet guidelines in a hundred pages.  Retail $11 (available from Amazon for $5)

7-year-old raises over $200K for Haiti

Charlie Simpson’s mission was simple.  He wanted to complete a 5-mile donation ride around the park and raise £ 500 ($ 813.14) for Haiti earthquake relief efforts.  The result of his efforts netted more than $200,000 in donations through Unicef UK.

Charlie Simpson ($200K donation) > Lebron James ($100K donation)

“My name is Charlie Simpson, I want to do a Sponsored Bike Ride for Haiti because there was a big earthquake and loads of people have lost their lives.  I want to make some money to buy food, water and tents for everyone in Haiti. I am going to cycle around South Park as many times as possible…. (at least 10 laps, I hope!). Please can you sponsor me and all your money will go to UNICEF who are collecting for Haiti.
