7-year-old raises over $200K for Haiti

Charlie Simpson’s mission was simple.  He wanted to complete a 5-mile donation ride around the park and raise £ 500 ($ 813.14) for Haiti earthquake relief efforts.  The result of his efforts netted more than $200,000 in donations through Unicef UK.

Charlie Simpson ($200K donation) > Lebron James ($100K donation)

Charlie’s Message:
“My name is Charlie Simpson, I want to do a Sponsored Bike Ride for Haiti because there was a big earthquake and loads of people have lost their lives.  I want to make some money to buy food, water and tents for everyone in Haiti. I am going to cycle around South Park as many times as possible…. (at least 10 laps, I hope!). Please can you sponsor me and all your money will go to UNICEF who are collecting for Haiti. THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH!”

RoboCup Putting Aid

The RoboCup is fresh because it’s a putting aid that doesn’t make you look like a noob on the putting green.  Unlike other aids that attach to your putter, elbows, wrists, or forehead, the RoboCup is hidden in the hole.  It also comes with a nice molded carrying case so you can just throw it in the bag.  It received the “Best New Product” award at the 2009 PGA Merchandise Show.  Retail $59.99

  • Runs on 4 AA batteries, which lasts for over 12,000 putt returns (batteries not included)

Nike Training “Force Fate” Commercial

The 2010 Vancouver Olympics are less than a month away.  Here’s a pretty fresh Nike commercial for Canadian hockey fans.  My favorite line, “I dumped my last boyfriend for being a sieve.”  A sieve is a hockey goalie who allows too many goals to be scored by the other team, causing his team own team to lose the game.

dualLink Sync Cable

For people always on the go, the dualLink is a must in your bag.  One manageable cable that can charge/sync two Apple devices simultaneously.  I hate having to pick which device to charge before leaving the office, since I need my Nano for the gym and iPhone for the drive home.  Best $26 I spent so far in 2010.

Kodak Playsport Video Camera

Take the already popular Kodak Zi8 than make it smaller and more durable.  The new Kodak Playsport can record video footage up to 10 feet underwater in both 1080p (30 fps) and 720p (60fps).  I love the image stabilization, 5 MP 16:9 widescreen HD still pictures, and HDMI output.  Perfect for snowboarding, mountain biking, or any other adventurous activity.  For readers that must have a stereo audio-in jack, stick with the Zi8.  Retail $150 (available April 2010, pre-order through Amazon)

  • Expandable SD/SDHC card slot
  • High contrast 2.0″ LCD screen
