UPDATE: The New York Times reports, “only owners of full-sized Aston Martins will be eligible to purchase the Cygnet.”
The Cygnet (baby swan) is the perfect car for city-dwellers that use “luxurious” and “eco-friendly” in the same sentence. It is based on the Toyota IQ platform, which is an ultra compact car already being sold in the Europe and Japan. Aston Martin adds their swagger with signature exterior styling cues and luxurious interior materials. Enthusiasts can expect fuel efficiency around 60mpg and an estimated starting price tag of $32,000. The initial release is expected to be late 2010 for the European market. A North America launch has not been officially announced.
